The spirits in the Forbidden City

Forbidden city of China is located right in the heart of Beijing and was the home of 24 emperors of the Qing and Ming Dynasties.

In the ancient time, emperors usually had a lot of wifes, but there are only one queen for one emperors, and the others wifes had lower power and right than the queen. Therefore everyone want to be the queen of the emperor.

In order to be the queen, women in the forbidden city tried many ways to reach the their aims.
They tried to get other women out of the forbidden city or even kill them.

That's why many old people in Beijing told me that there are many spirits and ghosts in the Forbidden city when I was travelling in Beijing. Especially in the river around the Forbidden City, there was many people drowned in ancient time.

Guards who work in the Forbidden City did hear the sounds like women crying, singing and laughing. Someone even saw ladies dressing like ancient time passing through the corridors in the evening.
